In early August, excitement fills the air as Albany mailboxes swing open in anticipation of the big reveal: “who will be my teacher?!?”
DWS K4 students were stunned to find empty mailboxes but received something far better – a personal delivery!
K4 teacher Mandy Phillips speaks about delivering one of her welcome letters, “We thought it would be a special and personalized touch to hand deliver class letters this year. With a fun invitation and a special treat in tow, I set off on my adventure around town to find the new precious faces that warm my classroom this year. It was an exciting way to welcome the children and their families to our school family. I’ll never forget the bright smiles on their faces, and it’s just the beginning for what is to come in an exciting year.”
Parent and DWS alum, Jenna Boatright Willcox (Class of 2003), “As a parent, sending your little one to a new school is a huge transition. What a surprise to open our door and have Mrs. Phillips hand deliver Fletcher’s letter! This special delivery made the transition to “big boy school” special for all of us!”
So, what did Fletcher think about the surprise visit?
